Team Solutions

Rainbow Center is privileged to be a member of Partners for Excellence in Psychiatry, a rapidly growing network of innovative behavioral healthcare organizations across the nation that have adopted the Neuroscience Treatment Team Partner (NTTP) program, which is designed to raise the standard of care for people with SPMI and their families.

Three members of the Rainbow Center staff attended the three and a half day training that is a component of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and is sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company. Partners for Excellence in Psychiatry training is designed to treat the whole person and includes orientation to the NTTP program, promotion of recovery and wellness, effective mental health education strategies, organizational change strategies and a first-of-its-kind interactive software program. The NTTP program is a three-part educational program that we are using in both group and one-on-one sessions.

Rainbow Center has been offering TEAM SOLUTIONS groups since November of 2004. Our assigned small groups meet at the same time every week to learn about understanding mental illness and treatment and working with a treatment team; the groups also provide successful recovery tips, relapse prevention and crisis and stress management. If you are interested in a TEAM SOLUTIONS group, please call us at 402-564-6622.

The SOLUTIONS FOR WELLNESS program offers information and simple tips on nutrition and fitness. Rainbow Center kicks off the morning with a sitter-cize group four days a week. This has been beneficial for both consumers and staff by helping us to feel more alert and flexible. On Monday afternoons, we meet for an open group on nutrition, wellness and living a healthful lifestyle. The goals for this group are to learn the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and to learn how a healthful diet and lifestyle can help reduce or avoid health problems, how to set goals and achieve them, how to reduce food costs and how to develop support systems to maintain a healthful diet and lifestyle.

On Thursday mornings, we meet for an open group on fitness and exercise. In this group, we are learning about the benefits of regular exercise, different types of exercise and low- and no-cost exercise strategies. We are also learning how to start and maintain an exercise program, how to monitor heart rates and how to a maintain healthy body weight.

Rainbow Center also helps consumers set individual wellness goals. These short-term goals are chosen by the consumers to help them on their way to living a healthful lifestyle.

ABNORMAL INVOLUNTARY MOVEMENT SCALE (AIMS) training is an in-service video designed to help staff identify and monitor movement disorders such as tardive dyskinesia.
