| Day Rehabilitation
PHILOSOPHIES OF RAINBOW CENTER Rainbow Center believes that all consumers have something worthwhile to contribute to society and to the program. Many of our consumers initially lack the skill, training, and confidence necessary to make the transition from hospital to independent living, and to re-enter the work force. Through participation in this program, our consumers can take the steps to successful community living, and can become candidates for worthwhile jobs.
Rainbow Center philosophy is: Having meaningful work and feeling needed and wanted are crucial to one's development of self-worth, productivity, and confidence. Day Rehab offers opportunities to work at clerical tasks, food preparation and janitorial jobs. Through these tasks, consumers work on gaining and refining daily living, social and vocational skills, as well as increasing their self-esteem. Group activities allow consumers to learn skills to better cope in their environment. Our program offers consumer's opportunities for socialization, education, support, and case management in handling their financial, social, and emotional affairs.
As our consumers regain some of the necessary skills for work and community living, they become more involved in their local community and contribute to that community.
EXPECTATIONS FOR DAY REHAB CONSUMERS
Because experience has shown consumers are better able to maintain themselves in the community with regular attendance at the program, we strongly encourage consumers to attend on a daily basis. While consumers are present at the program, they will be expected to participate. Daily attendance also allows for peer support, monitoring of mental status, and an opportunity for socialization.
The work of Rainbow Center is generally accomplished between 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. We ask that consumers attend for the entire five hours daily.
SERVICES PROVIDED BY RAINBOW CENTER
At their request, consumers of Rainbow Center can expect assistance in many areas of their lives. These may include advocacy in the community with other services, organizations, such as the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Social Security Administration, Vocational Rehabilitation, as well as health care and mental health/substance abuse professionals.
They also can receive further services from Rainbow Center, such as employment, or community support. The consumer can also utilize the member bank, which is a check writing service, at no cost to the consumer.
